Go "Green" with your PC

You all probably know about the little apps and tips to help cut down on the power your computer. From adjusting screen brightness to heavy duty tweaking with your hardware. A new application from Uniblue Labs makes protecting the environment even easier. The program's called "Local Cooling." It helps you control everything from when your monitor switches off to when your hard drives shut down.

Once you grab the executable from localcooling.com it's a quick and easy install. After installation, a small little icon for Local Cooling will sit in the tray.
Clicking it will open a small little window showing how many trees you saved, how much fuel you saved, and how many kilowatt hours you saved.

If you click the settings link it'll allow all sorts of customization options for tweaking your computer's power settings.

You can also register on the localcooling.com site and see how you rank with other users.
All in all, it seems like a cool application. It doesn't seem like it slowed down my computer much, but we'll have to see what happens when I boot up tomorrow morning. I recommend everyone to check it out at localcooling.com.

P.S. Screenshots by the new application Jing from jingproject.com.
