DefCon 15: To Catch an Undercover Dateline Reporter

This is funny. This is absolutley hilarious. I'm laughing hysterically right now. Alright, apparently NBC sent a Dateline reporter to DefCon this year. Now at DefCon you can get a pres badge and do your reporting there and everybody's happy. But this reporter decided not to. She decided to sneak in with a hidden camera and pose as one of the hackers there. First of all, at DefCon, women cannot be found. Anyway, she was discovered to be a fake and during a press conference she was ousted and then escorted out to her car by a herd of DefCon attendees who were badgering her and taking her picture the entire walk back. It is said she was undercover to catch people committing crimes there (UPDATE: She was there trying to find undercover federal agents for a Dateline special). Here's the video:

StepMania: Chocolate Rain

This is amazing. Somebody went out there and remixed Chocolate Rain into a StepMania dance game. It's really cool. But I'm getting the feeling that the creator of this watched G4's Attack of the Show the day the hosts told us about Chocolate Rain and an Internet gang called "Anonymous" as in the beginning of the video he said "I did it for the lulz" which was talked about during the part with "Anonymous." Anyway enjoy the video. It's amazing.

If you haven't seen this already you have to. It's absolutely amazing.

Go "Green" with your PC

You all probably know about the little apps and tips to help cut down on the power your computer. From adjusting screen brightness to heavy duty tweaking with your hardware. A new application from Uniblue Labs makes protecting the environment even easier. The program's called "Local Cooling." It helps you control everything from when your monitor switches off to when your hard drives shut down.

Once you grab the executable from localcooling.com it's a quick and easy install. After installation, a small little icon for Local Cooling will sit in the tray.
Clicking it will open a small little window showing how many trees you saved, how much fuel you saved, and how many kilowatt hours you saved.

If you click the settings link it'll allow all sorts of customization options for tweaking your computer's power settings.

You can also register on the localcooling.com site and see how you rank with other users.
All in all, it seems like a cool application. It doesn't seem like it slowed down my computer much, but we'll have to see what happens when I boot up tomorrow morning. I recommend everyone to check it out at localcooling.com.

P.S. Screenshots by the new application Jing from jingproject.com.

Feedburner

Hey all! I've just subscribed to Feedburner today and started burning this blog's feeds. Now it's easier than ever to subscribe to this blog's posts. On the right hand side you should see a link to subscribe to the feed. Just click it and do whatever you need to do to get it up and running on your feed reader. Anyway, I hope everyone likes the new feeds and let me know if there's anything I can do to make this blog better.
