The Benoit Tragedy

As most of you probably know, Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and his son Daniel were discovered yesterday in their home dead. The investigation regarding the while Benoit Tragedy, as I'm calling it, is still ongoing and there are many details being released and each news site I go to says something a little different. So I'm going to try and compile all the details and all the latest news here into one story. So I'll start at the beginning when we first heard of this terrible atrocity.

It all started early yesterday when friends of Chris started receiving odd and mysterious text messages. His friends became worried about this and notified the WWE. The WWE then notified local law enforcement in Fayetteville, GA. They police went to check on Benoit and his family and that's when they found the Benoit, his wife, and his son dead. They were all found in separate rooms. Nancy Benoit was found in a home office strangled with an electric cord. Daniel was found in his bedroom smothered by a bag. And Benoit was found in the weight room, hung by a pulley on an exercise machine. The authorities would not release any details at the time except to say that no one was shot. The WWE was notified of the situation and they cancelled RAW for that night and replaced it with a three hour tribute to Benoit. Mr. McMahon rose from the dead and made a statement to the public. Here's what he said:

An autopsy was done today to find the answers to what really happened. It was concluded that it was a double-murder suicide. Apparently Benoit killed his wife on Friday on Saturday and his son was killed either late Saturday or sometime Sunday. It is still being discovered when they were actually killed. On Sunday, Benoit was supposed to participate in the WWE Pay-Per-View of Vengeance. He called rather last minute saying he had a "family emergency." Then Monday afternoon Benoit committed suicide probably distraught over what he had done. Once the WWE found out about Benoit killing his family and committing suicide they pulled all tributes from their website and only had one story following the story of the Benoit Tragedy. Investigators found anabolic steroids in his home. These can cause paranoia, stress, and violent outbursts called "roid rage." It is believed he had been taking these drugs which caused him to go into "roid rage" and kill his family and himself. I'll provide more details here on this post as they become available so stay tuned.

UPDATE: I just heard that next to Nancy's and Daniel's bodies were Bibles. Also Nancy was bound at the wrists and the ankles. According to Wikipedia, Nancy was killed on Friday, Daniel on Saturday, and Benoit killed himself late Saturday or early Sunday. This is still up in the air as I'm hearing different stories of when who died from the sources I've been checking.

The Walls Are Rebuilt

After much outcry from grass-root fans and a whole lot of peanuts, CBS has brought back Jericho. I know. I couldn't believe it either. I was so excited a began sending text messages to all my friends who also enjoyed the show. Turns out that a lot of people do enjoy the show. So many that they rallied together via the Internet and organized an attack against. These grass-root fans send thousands of peanuts to the CBS offices in New York and Los Angeles. Obviously the peanuts are meant to represent the lack of sanity of the heads of CBS. All the peanuts forced CBS to give in and order seven more episodes of Jericho meant for a mid-season replacement in 2008. So now I leave you with a letter CBS released to all fans of Jericho:

__________________________________________________________________________

To The Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over
the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably
unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television
series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have
been heard.

As
a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of "Jericho" for mid-season
next year.  In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there
to be more "Jericho," we will need more viewers.

A
loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But
that community needs to grow.   It needs to grow on the CBS Television
Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the
show available.

We will count on
you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same
grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent
weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell
you the specific date or time period that "Jericho" will return to our
schedule.  However, in the interim, we are working on several
initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences.  This includes
re-broadcasting "Jericho" on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and
clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online),
releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story
of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will
let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On
behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of
"Jericho" in such an extraordinary manner.  Your protest was creative,
sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a
difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler

President, CBS Entertainment

New Interface for Embedded YouTube Videos

Hey Everyone! YouTube has done some rearranging and some reprogramming and some adding and subtracting and all that and what they've come up, well I think you might be pleased. YouTube has redone the interface for embedded videos that people like me post on their websites, blogs, etc. Go check a few of them out on the page here. What do you notice? Maybe you can run your cursor across the side and the bottom and click the Menu button. Notice anything? Yes new little doodads. The first thing can be found on the sides which I have no clue what it does. Two arrow like things pop up. When I click on them while watching one of the Blaze videos it just restarts the movie. Maybe it's different for other videos.  Next thing is at the bottom. You should see little thumbnails of other videos. This is like when you finish a video on YouTube it shows other movies you might like. The other deal is with the Menu button. When you click it the video screen gets shrunk and an Embed and URL button appear allowing for you to link the vid to other places. I like this new feature from YouTube. It's very slick and hopefully soon we'll see ads. YouTube videos are plastered everywhere on the Internet. Think if Google put ads on their. The person who uploaded the video could make money and so could Google. Right now the whole revenue sharing thing like that is sort of very exclusive so it's kind of in beta but I hope to see that come to us in the near future. Anyway, until then.

Ad-Aware 2007

Lavasoft has officially launched Ad-Aware 2007. It has a slick new interface with all the features it has before and it's powerful scanning capabilities. I installed it today and I'm running a scan. So far it found 59 things! 59! And if you know me I'm pretty careful about keeping my computer free of malware and the like. Anyway, go pick up your copy of Ad-Aware for free at lavasoft.com.
